Abstract: Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and Preserved Ratio Impaired Spirometry (PRISm) are pulmonary conditions that share common factors. However, the pathophysiological mechanisms differentiating these entities remain poorly understood. This study aimed to compare the immunological and biochemical profiles of patients with COPD and PRISm and to analyze the correlation of these biomarkers with anthropometric parameters in each group. A cross-sectional analytical study was conducted involving 72 patients aged 50-80 years. Serum cytokines (IL-6, IL-8, IL-10, IL-12, TNF), biochemical markers (total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, triglycerides, glucose, glycated hemoglobin), and anthropometric measurements (waist circumference, triceps skinfold thickness, mid upper arm circumference) were assessed. No statistically significant differences were found between the groups regarding cytokine or biochemical levels. However, in COPD patients, abdominal circumference correlated positively with IL-6 levels (r = 0.565; p < 0.05), while triceps skinfold thickness showed a significant inverse correlation with IL-10 (r = – 0.427; p < 0.05). In PRISm patients, glucose levels were positively correlated with mid upper arm circumference (r = 0.574; p < 0.05) and body mass index (r = 0.567; p < 0.05). Although COPD and PRISm patients exhibited similar inflammatory and biochemical profiles, our analysis of correlations with body composition parameters showed distinct associations. The presents findings underscore the importance of individualized clinical management for each patient group.

Título: A pedagogia da orquestração na Escola de Música da Universidade Federal da Bahia entre os anos 2011 E 2024
Autor(es): Jesus, Kedson Silva de
Primeiro Orientador: Espinheira, Alexandre Mascarenhas
Abstract: In this thesis, I propose to investigate the teaching of a set of courses titled Instrumentation and Orchestration — and some related ones — that are part of the curriculum of the Composition and Conducting program at the School of Music (EMUS) of the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA), covering the period from 2011 to 2024. These courses are central to the formation of graduates, as they occupy a pivotal role in the program's curriculum — distributed across multiple semesters — and provide the technical and conceptual foundations indispensable for composition students to complete their Final Project, which requires the composition of a work for large orchestra, choir, and soloist, with a minimum duration of 20 minutes. The research stems from the need to investigate the pedagogy of this set of courses in light of the perception of possible problems related to the following hypotheses: 1) a possible theoretical gap in the field; 2) limited opportunities for implementation (practical testing); and 3) pedagogical approaches that prove outdated in relation to contemporary demands. Based on these possible problems, a research path is outlined that involves: 1) understanding and delimiting the terms related to the field; 2) investigating hypotheses concerning this theoretical gap; 3) identifying emerging directions that address it; 4) reflecting on the teaching of orchestration at EMUS-UFBA through a multifaceted observation (encompassing the author's learning and teaching trajectory, interviews with students, and curricular analysis); and 5) proposing pathways for the pedagogical development of the field. The methodology adopted is qualitative, based on a case study grounded in the triangulation of perspectives on the pedagogy of orchestration, encompassing the author's experiential narrative as an undergraduate and graduate student, teaching intern, and substitute instructor, complemented by thematic and content analysis of semi-structured interviews with 10 former students, and a questionnaire directed at faculty involved in the teaching of orchestration at EMUS-UFBA, as well as analysis of the Composition program's curricula, all preceded by a global and local contextualization of contemporary initiatives at the intersection of research, teaching, and practice in the field of orchestration. The contribution of this thesis lies: 1) in its collaboration toward overcoming the theoretical-conceptual gap regarding orchestration as a creative practice; 2) in offering a multifaceted methodological model — experiential narrative, interviews, questionnaire, curricular analysis — applicable to other contexts; and 3) in proposing concrete pedagogical pathways for EMUS-UFBA, responding directly to the demands observed throughout the investigation and advancing the formation of composers.

Título: Práticas discursivas do cuidado em saúde mental de profissionais da atenção primária
Autor(es): Sousa, Vinícius André Gouveia de
Primeiro Orientador: Jesus, Mônica Lima de
Abstract: This research analyzed the discursive practices of healthcare professionals in public primary care regarding mental health care. There is a need to build strategies to overcome recurring barriers in this field, such as indiscriminate overmedication and the feeling of unpreparedness reported by multidisciplinary family health teams. These obstacles, often naturalized in work routines, hinder the implementation of practices based on integrality and the humanization of care, in line with an expanded concept of health that goes beyond the hegemonic biomedical model. Understanding team dynamics and their discursive practices enables the problematization of what is given as natural and the possibility of building new actions. The research is guided by the theoretical-methodological approach of discursive practices and the production of meaning, within the field of Social Constructionist Psychology. A conversation circle was conducted with a family and community health team in the city of João Pessoa, Paraíba. The meeting was recorded and fully transcribed. To organize the analysis of the discursive practices, we used the dialogic map. The map enabled the construction of two analytical themes and their respective subthemes:1. Difficulties and limits in MH (Mental Health) care: 1.1 Effects of medicalization/overmedication on the dehumanization of health; 1.2 Effects of high demand and low supply; 1.3 Discontinuity of care; 1.4 Professional unpreparedness; 1.5 Suffering and overload of professionals; 1.6 Care faced with limits.2. MH care practices and coping strategies: 2.1 Assistentialism and individualized care; 2.2 Problematizations of care; 2.3 Potentialities of listening and bonding; 2.4 Education and community autonomy; 2.5 Spaces of support for healthcare professionals. Theme 1 focuses on contents interpreted as difficulties and discusses the professionals' stance in naturalizing these difficulties. Theme 2 focuses on discursive practices aimed at both assistentialist and emancipatory solutions, in addition to the process of problematizing care practices and seeking mutual support within the team itself. The professionals made it possible to discuss institutional and community resources for the production of strategies contextualized within the social reality in which the meanings about mental health care were produced. The conversation circle experience paved the way to think about a care practice that does not leave the professional unsupported in the process, but rather uses their reality as a reference point for the production of meanings about care in a socially and territorially contextualized manner.

Título: Estudo comparativo de estratégias de controle clássico aplicadas a um quadrirrotor
Autor(es): Santos, Victor Coutinho Vieira
Primeiro Orientador: Santos, Tito Luís Maia
Abstract: The main motivation of this work is to evaluate the potential and limitations of a set of
simplified classical control strategies in the context of trajectory control of a lightweight and
low-cost quadrotor. To this end, different control algorithms are investigated, considering
both the performance achieved in trajectory tracking and the complexity associated with
the design and tuning of the controllers. Initially, the tests are carried out in a simulated
environment, using the Gazebo robotic platform, followed by experimental validation with
a physical drone in an indoor environment.
The study uses the ROS 2 framework in the Foxy distribution to perform the simulations
and physical tests, aiming to maintain methodological consistency across the different
evaluated scenarios. The results are organized by control algorithm, and the quantitative
analysis employs the NRMSE metric, while the qualitative evaluation considers the
adherence to the trajectory and the dynamic behavior observed in the experiments.
As the main result, this work proposes a comparative analysis guided by the trade-off
between performance and design simplicity. Based on the advantages, disadvantages,
and limitations observed for each evaluated strategy, the controllers that provide better
performance with lower implementation complexity are identified, as well as the cases in
which more elaborate architectures are justified by the gains obtained in trajectory control.

Título: Tríade trágica: significados vivenciados pela pessoa com doença renal crônica, aguardando na fila pelo transplante
Autor(es): Santos, Jeane Lima dos
Primeiro Orientador: Santa Rosa, Darci de Oliveira
Abstract: People with chronic renal disease face challenges and methods in diagnosing the disease, apart
from limitations in life associated with dialysis therapy. Awaiting transplantation awakens hope
for the possibility of freedom from the dialysis machine and the resumption of its independence
and quality of life, this study reveals the transformation of the tragic triad into tragic otimism,
following what is presented in the theoretical reference of Viktor Emil Frankl. This work aims
to understand the meanings of the tragic triad (suffering, guilt and death) experienced by people
with chronic kidney disease waiting in line for a rim transplant. This is a qualitative study, with
a total of eleven participants in the hemodialysis service in a public hospital in the municipality
of Salvador-Bahia who experienced this condition. The whole process was carried out through
previously scheduled face-to-face interviews. The analysis of two depoimentos was guided by
Vietta's Triadic Humanist Existential Personalist Configuration, taking into account the ethical
aspects of the National Health Council, which regulates research involving human beings.
Fizeram starts from the study with eleven participants who receive names of moral and ethical
values. The meanings attributed to suffering, to guilt and to death (tragic triad) experienced by
people with chronic kidney disease waiting in line for a kidney transplant emerged as a Great
Category: the Tragic Triad to Tragic Otimism. This contains two other Categories, first being
Experiences of the Tragic Triad, which has three subcategories: Experiences of Sofrimento
(made up of three themes), Experiences of Guilt (made up of one theme) and Experiences of
Fear of Morte (made up of one theme). The second Category, entitled Experiences of Tragic
Otimism, is made up of two Subcategories: first, which contains three Subsubcategories (Hope,
Sofrimento with meaning and Faith in God) and the second Subcategory, made up of two
Subsubcategories (Joy and Happiness), with a theme for each one. We understand that the
meanings of the tragic triad in the experience of people with chronic renal disease in the waiting
line for a rim transplant in hemodialytic treatment do not emerge or tragic otimism to reveal
attitudinal and experiential values, proposed by Viktor Frankl. This experience makes us
understand that, even though these individuals will find meaning, the limitations imposed by
diagnosis, treatment and waiting for transplantation make it difficult to develop creative values.

Título: A cidade flutua : arquivo fluente das águas de Goiânia
Autor(es): Romeiro, Bráulio
Primeiro Orientador: Mortimer, Junia Cambraia
Abstract: This thesis investigates the systemic covering of water within Goiânia’s urban history, interrogating how the city’s official narrative — tightly woven around images of progress and modernity — has consistently sidelined the diverse aquatic presences that fundamentally shaped its territory. By examining how archival images recorded, wiped out, or shifted the perception of water during the construction process, the study seeks to critically reappropriate these visuals to reveal the suppressed layers of the urban experience, operating on the hypothesis that Goiânia’s foundational aquatic memory, rooted in the Indigenous expression for “land of many waters,” has been systematically silenced by colonial logics of land occupation. Methodologically, the research adopts critical montage as an epistemic principle, drawing on Walter Benjamin and Georges Didi-Huberman while mobilizing concepts like critical fabulation (Saidiya Hartman), cruzo (Luiz Rufino), and transfluence (Antônio Bispo dos Santos) to create productive tension between institutional archives and personal collections. This framework, established in the first chapter “Theoretical Currents,” positions the image as a lived epistemic event rather than mere illustration, leading into the second chapter, “Land of Many Waters,” which reconstructs the symbolic formation of the territory to emphasize the centrality of rivers and groundwater while destabilizing colonial tropes of an arid, “empty” Cerrado. The study then branches into four distinct lenses — hidden, enchanted, pleasant, and engineered waters — to explore varying regimes of visibility before concluding in “Estuary,” where it is argued that urban waters are typically granted political existence only when reduced to measurable technical objects, whereas their fluid, subterranean presences remain active yet invisible; ultimately, the work asserts that broadening our regimes of perception is essential for recognizing water as a relational entity endowed with its own memory, agency, and history.

Título: Discurso, espaço do trabalho de rua e branqueamento : o Programa de Requalificação dos Mercados e Feiras de Salvador (2012-2021)
Autor(es): Silva, Andrié Roberto da
Primeiro Orientador: Ivo, Any Brito Leal
Abstract: This dissertation examines, within the context of contemporary urban themes, markets and open-air markets in the city of Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. Specifically, it analyzes Salvador's Public Markets and Open-Air Markets Requalification Program (2012–2021) (in portuguese, “Programa de Requalificação dos Mercados e Feiras de Salvador”), a public policy of the Salvador City Hall. Implemented between 2014 and 2023, the program consisted of a series of architectural, urban planning and administrative interventions on the city's public markets. This work uses the French-based discourse analysis tool, from the perspective of the Brazilian author Eni Orlandi, to analyze the discourse enunciated by public authorities based on a corpus composed of newspaper articles from the official press and other media outlets, both contemporary and past, directly related to the program or to popular markets in the city of Salvador. Considering street work in the city as an Afro-diasporic continuity, this analysis seeks to answer, based on the concept of whitening of territory (“branqueamento do território”), whether the discourse embodied in the program constitutes a process of whitening. To this end, it investigates how this discourse works, its discursive formations, and the ideologies that interpellate public authority as a subject. In this regard, it develops four axes of analysis that highlight the meanings in the discourse: 1. Political discourse: general mechanics, 2. Discourse of entrepreneurship, 3. Chaos and order, and 4. Memory, history and culture — silence. Finally, it concludes that the discourse in question is indeed a process of territorial whitening, with an emphasis on the dimensions of cultural whitening and whitening of image.
