Título: Análise comparativa do perfil imunológico e bioquímico entre pacientes com Doença Pulmonar Obstrutiva Crônica e pacientes com Espirometria com Comprometimento da Relação Preservada (PRISm) Autor(es): Braz, Leticia Helen Dias Primeiro Orientador: Baccan, Gyselle Chrystina Abstract: Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and Preserved Ratio Impaired Spirometry (PRISm) are pulmonary conditions that share common factors. However, the pathophysiological mechanisms differentiating these entities remain poorly understood. This study aimed to compare the immunological and biochemical profiles of patients with COPD and PRISm and to analyze the correlation of these biomarkers with anthropometric parameters in each group. A cross-sectional analytical study was conducted involving 72 patients aged 50-80 years. Serum cytokines (IL-6, IL-8, IL-10, IL-12, TNF), biochemical markers (total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, triglycerides, glucose, glycated hemoglobin), and anthropometric measurements (waist circumference, triceps skinfold thickness, mid upper arm circumference) were assessed. No statistically significant differences were found between the groups regarding cytokine or biochemical levels. However, in COPD patients, abdominal circumference correlated positively with IL-6 levels (r = 0.565; p < 0.05), while triceps skinfold thickness showed a significant inverse correlation with IL-10 (r = – 0.427; p < 0.05). In PRISm patients, glucose levels were positively correlated with mid upper arm circumference (r = 0.574; p < 0.05) and body mass index (r = 0.567; p < 0.05). Although COPD and PRISm patients exhibited similar inflammatory and biochemical profiles, our analysis of correlations with body composition parameters showed distinct associations. The presents findings underscore the importance of individualized clinical management for each patient group. Editora / Evento / Instituição: Universidade Federal da Bahia Tipo: Dissertação

Método de suporte à gestão da complexidade com influência na segurança e produção da construção de edificações

qui, 09/07/2026 - 21:00
Título: Método de suporte à gestão da complexidade com influência na segurança e produção da construção de edificações Autor(es): Peinado, Hugo Sefrian Primeiro Orientador: Costa, Dayana Bastos Abstract: Construction projects are considered complex sociotechnical systems due to their high degree of uncertainty, the large number of elements involved in dynamic interactions, among other attributes. Despite the growing attention to the complexity perspective, methods for operationalizing the attribute view of complexity remain scarce, with a predominance of reductionist approaches that disregard complexity's influence on safety and production in construction. In this context, this research aims to propose a method to support complexity management in construction, focusing on understanding, identifying, and analyzing interactions among complexities to support decision-making related to safety and production from a sociotechnical perspective. The research strategy adopted was Design Science Research, comprising the stages of awareness, suggestion, development, evaluation, and conclusion. The research design involved a literature review, a scoping review, two Delphi studies with 40 experts (in the fields of construction production and safety), a Relative Importance Index (RII) analysis to refine the factor structure, focus groups, hierarchical cluster analysis, and an application on a construction site. To model interactions, Fuzzy DEMATEL, Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM), and Cross-Impact Matrix Multiplication Applied to Classification (MICMAC) were integrated. The results consist of a complexity-factor framework comprising 54 factors, subdivided into 16 categories across the four sociotechnical subsystems: social, technical, organizational, and external environment. In analyzing interactions among these factors, the Fuzzy DEMATEL-ISM-MICMAC approach enabled quantification of interaction intensities, organization of factors into a three-level visual hierarchy (driving, mediating, and dependent), and definition of each factor’s role within the system. The evaluations demonstrated that the proposed method has high utility by overcoming the limitations of traditional tools, enabling a systemic perspective applicable to activities, project stages, or the entire project. Thus, this study seeks to contribute a method that supports complexity management on building construction sites, enabling project managers to understand and identify such complexities and analyze their interactions in day-to-day construction operations, thereby supporting decision-making in production planning and control and in safety management.

This study investigated, for the first time, the HTL of Canela-de-Ema (Vellozia squamata Pohl) a species native to the Brazilian Cerrado characterized by high natural flammability and a lignocellulosic structure with the aim of producing bio-oil. Utilizing this under explored native biomass represents an innovative energy valorization strategy that simultaneously contributes to mitigating wildfire risks. Canela-de-Ema was characterized using HPLC (High Performance Liquid Chromatography), proximate analysis, FT-IR (Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectroscopy), and TG/DTG (Thermogravimetric Analysis and its derivative). These analyses confirmed high lignocellulosic content specifically lignin (22%), cellulose (32.3%), and hemicellulose (35%) along with a high volatile matter content (76%), low fixed carbon content (16%), and low ash content (0.90%), indicating great suitability for thermochemical conversion. An innovative catalytic system was employed, based on activated carbon derived from sugarcane bagasse, activated with calcium and copper, and impregnated with varying levels of iron (5%, 10%, and 15%). Sugarcane bagasse was characterized using XRF (X-ray fluorescence), FT-IR, and TG/DTG, while the catalysts were characterized for specific surface area and porosity, as well as by FT-IR, TEM (Transmission Electron Microscopy), SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy), and XRD (X-ray Diffraction) the results revealed a high specific surface area, an amorphous structure, and a predominantly carbonaceous porous morphology, which favored the impregnation and dispersion of metallic species. The identification of hematite in the catalysts via XRD confirmed the effective incorporation of iron during the impregnation step. Hydrothermal liquefaction was carried out in a batch reactor at 300 °C for 2 hours, using ethanol as the solvent and activated carbon-based Fe catalysts. Bio-oil yields were determined via gravimetric analysis. Subsequently, the obtained bio oils were characterized using GC-MS (Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry), FT-IR, and NMR (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance) it was observed that the supports and catalysts produced bio-oils with yields exceeding that of the non-catalytic process (16%). Notably, CACa, CACaFe05, and CACaFe15 achieved yields of 31%, 28%, and 30%, respectively, demonstrating that both the support type and the metal content (specifically 5% and 15% Fe) directly influence liquid fraction production and the mitigation of biochar formation. GC-MS analysis showed that the bio-oils are composed predominantly of lignin derived species, particularly aromatic compounds, ethers, and esters. FT-IR spectra showed that the bio-oil from the non-catalytic reaction (ECETOH) remained oxygenated, whereas the CACu and CACa supports especially when impregnated with Fe reduced O-H and C-O bands and intensified signals in the aromatic regions, indicating enhanced deoxygenation, stabilization, and chemical quality of the bio-oil. 1H and 13C NMR analyses corroborated these results, indicating a predominance of aliphatic and aromatic structures and suggesting that the metal catalysts influenced the bio-oils chemical composition, favoring the formation of compounds with a lower degree of oxygenation and greater potential for energy applications. In conclusion, Canela-de ema proved to be a viable feedstock for bio-oil production via HTL, and the integration of iron catalysts onto carbon supports demonstrated potential for improving the quality of the final product. Redes neurais convolucionais e estratégias de otimização para mitigação de ruído cruzado em calorímetros eletromagnéticos de argônio líquido para física de altas energias

Título: Redes neurais convolucionais e estratégias de otimização para mitigação de ruído cruzado em calorímetros eletromagnéticos de argônio líquido para física de altas energias Autor(es): Rodrigues, André Paiva Conrado Primeiro Orientador: Fernandes Júnior, Antônio Carlos Lopes Abstract: Electronic instrumentation systems with fine sensor segmentation can be affected by crosstalk, primarily caused by inductive and capacitive coupling effects between adjacente cells. Furthermore, the manifestation of crosstalk is influenced by stochastic factors inherent to subatomic processes, over which direct control is not possible. This scenario can be observed in particle physics experiments using calorimetry systems to measure particle energy. In these systems, crosstalk distorts the sensor response signal and, consequently, degrades the estimation of the amplitude and phase of the collected signal, affecting the accuracy of subatomic property measurements and impacting the quality of the reconstruction of the signal of interest. Based on the matrix arrangement of cells in a liquid argon calorimeter, this work adopts a machine learning-based methodology for crosstalk reduction, using convolutional neural network architectures, aiming for use in offline data analysis. Different optimization strategies were tested for such neural networks, considering simulated data generated with the Lorenzetti Showers framework, in a supervised learning approach, with simulation characteristics inspired by the ATLAS experiment. Among the methods evaluated, the normalized minimization approach of the reconstructed energy and time error yielded the best results. Performance measurements of amplitude and phase recovery of the characteristic pulse were obtained that exceeded those observed for the base method, the Optimal Filter, in all cells of a 3 × 3 cluster. For the dataset with a single electron with varying incidence position within the area of a cell, an average R2 of 0.994 was obtained for the central cell energy estimate, compared to 0.839 obtained with the application of the Optimal Filter. For time inference, the average R2 of 0.728 was obtained compared to -2.313 obtained with the use of the Optimal Filter. A pedagogia da orquestração na Escola de Música da Universidade Federal da Bahia entre os anos 2011 E 2024

Título: A pedagogia da orquestração na Escola de Música da Universidade Federal da Bahia entre os anos 2011 E 2024 Autor(es): Jesus, Kedson Silva de Primeiro Orientador: Espinheira, Alexandre Mascarenhas Abstract: In this thesis, I propose to investigate the teaching of a set of courses titled Instrumentation and Orchestration — and some related ones — that are part of the curriculum of the Composition and Conducting program at the School of Music (EMUS) of the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA), covering the period from 2011 to 2024. These courses are central to the formation of graduates, as they occupy a pivotal role in the program's curriculum — distributed across multiple semesters — and provide the technical and conceptual foundations indispensable for composition students to complete their Final Project, which requires the composition of a work for large orchestra, choir, and soloist, with a minimum duration of 20 minutes. The research stems from the need to investigate the pedagogy of this set of courses in light of the perception of possible problems related to the following hypotheses: 1) a possible theoretical gap in the field; 2) limited opportunities for implementation (practical testing); and 3) pedagogical approaches that prove outdated in relation to contemporary demands. Based on these possible problems, a research path is outlined that involves: 1) understanding and delimiting the terms related to the field; 2) investigating hypotheses concerning this theoretical gap; 3) identifying emerging directions that address it; 4) reflecting on the teaching of orchestration at EMUS-UFBA through a multifaceted observation (encompassing the author's learning and teaching trajectory, interviews with students, and curricular analysis); and 5) proposing pathways for the pedagogical development of the field. The methodology adopted is qualitative, based on a case study grounded in the triangulation of perspectives on the pedagogy of orchestration, encompassing the author's experiential narrative as an undergraduate and graduate student, teaching intern, and substitute instructor, complemented by thematic and content analysis of semi-structured interviews with 10 former students, and a questionnaire directed at faculty involved in the teaching of orchestration at EMUS-UFBA, as well as analysis of the Composition program's curricula, all preceded by a global and local contextualization of contemporary initiatives at the intersection of research, teaching, and practice in the field of orchestration. The contribution of this thesis lies: 1) in its collaboration toward overcoming the theoretical-conceptual gap regarding orchestration as a creative practice; 2) in offering a multifaceted methodological model — experiential narrative, interviews, questionnaire, curricular analysis — applicable to other contexts; and 3) in proposing concrete pedagogical pathways for EMUS-UFBA, responding directly to the demands observed throughout the investigation and advancing the formation of composers.

This research analyzed the discursive practices of healthcare professionals in public primary care regarding mental health care. There is a need to build strategies to overcome recurring barriers in this field, such as indiscriminate overmedication and the feeling of unpreparedness reported by multidisciplinary family health teams. These obstacles, often naturalized in work routines, hinder the implementation of practices based on integrality and the humanization of care, in line with an expanded concept of health that goes beyond the hegemonic biomedical model. Understanding team dynamics and their discursive practices enables the problematization of what is given as natural and the possibility of building new actions. The research is guided by the theoretical-methodological approach of discursive practices and the production of meaning, within the field of Social Constructionist Psychology. A conversation circle was conducted with a family and community health team in the city of João Pessoa, Paraíba. The meeting was recorded and fully transcribed. To organize the analysis of the discursive practices, we used the dialogic map. The map enabled the construction of two analytical themes and their respective subthemes:1. Difficulties and limits in MH (Mental Health) care: 1.1 Effects of medicalization/overmedication on the dehumanization of health; 1.2 Effects of high demand and low supply; 1.3 Discontinuity of care; 1.4 Professional unpreparedness; 1.5 Suffering and overload of professionals; 1.6 Care faced with limits.2. MH care practices and coping strategies: 2.1 Assistentialism and individualized care; 2.2 Problematizations of care; 2.3 Potentialities of listening and bonding; 2.4 Education and community autonomy; 2.5 Spaces of support for healthcare professionals. Theme 1 focuses on contents interpreted as difficulties and discusses the professionals' stance in naturalizing these difficulties. Theme 2 focuses on discursive practices aimed at both assistentialist and emancipatory solutions, in addition to the process of problematizing care practices and seeking mutual support within the team itself. The professionals made it possible to discuss institutional and community resources for the production of strategies contextualized within the social reality in which the meanings about mental health care were produced. The conversation circle experience paved the way to think about a care practice that does not leave the professional unsupported in the process, but rather uses their reality as a reference point for the production of meanings about care in a socially and territorially contextualized manner. Título: Solidariedade sem fronteiras: percurso religioso, político e social de Jaime Wright (1927 – 1999) Autor(es): Duccini, Felipe Moreira Barboza Primeiro Orientador: Cardoso, Lucileide Costa Abstract: This thesis proposes an analysis of the life of the Presbyterian Reverend Jaime Wright (1927-1999), through the theoretical-methodological framework of renewed biography, in order to understand his political, religious and social work. The research dialogues with the presuppositions of the New Political History, Cultural History and the History of Religions, seeking to interpret the political and religious culture that underpinned the reverend's pastoral and militant praxis. Jaime Wright graduated in Theology from Princeton Theological Seminary in the United States and began his career as a missionary for the Presbyterian Church in the United States, attached to the New York Board of Foreign Missions. He later became president of the Central Brazil Mission, a presbyterian missionary project operational in numerous Brazilian states, as well became directing of the Ponte Nova Institute (IPN) and taking part in the production of the evangelical film The Dagger (1960), in which he acted as narrator. During Brazil's civil-military dictatorship (1964-1985), he stood out for his militancy in defence of human rights, participating in the founding of or being part of various ecumenical and opposition organizations to the regime, such as the Latin American Council of Churches (CLAI), the Ecumenical Coordination of Services (CESE), the Peace and Justice Service in Latin America (SERPAJ), the Santo Dias Center for Human Rights (CSDDH), the Committee for the Defense of Human Rights for the Countries of the Southern Cone (CLAMOR) and the Brazil: Never Again (BNM) project. These organizations and initiatives played a fundamental role in denouncing the arbitrary actions of the authoritarian regime and in preserving the historical memory of the period. In particular, the Brazil: Never Again project had a major impact on society by systematizing repressive documentation and revealing the scope of the human rights violations promoted by the repressive organs of the authoritarian state. Estudo comparativo de estratégias de controle clássico aplicadas a um quadrirrotor

Título: Estudo comparativo de estratégias de controle clássico aplicadas a um quadrirrotor Autor(es): Santos, Victor Coutinho Vieira Primeiro Orientador: Santos, Tito Luís Maia Abstract: The main motivation of this work is to evaluate the potential and limitations of a set of simplified classical control strategies in the context of trajectory control of a lightweight and low-cost quadrotor. To this end, different control algorithms are investigated, considering both the performance achieved in trajectory tracking and the complexity associated with the design and tuning of the controllers. Initially, the tests are carried out in a simulated environment, using the Gazebo robotic platform, followed by experimental validation with a physical drone in an indoor environment. The study uses the ROS 2 framework in the Foxy distribution to perform the simulations and physical tests, aiming to maintain methodological consistency across the different evaluated scenarios. The results are organized by control algorithm, and the quantitative analysis employs the NRMSE metric, while the qualitative evaluation considers the adherence to the trajectory and the dynamic behavior observed in the experiments. As the main result, this work proposes a comparative analysis guided by the trade-off between performance and design simplicity. Based on the advantages, disadvantages, and limitations observed for each evaluated strategy, the controllers that provide better performance with lower implementation complexity are identified, as well as the cases in which more elaborate architectures are justified by the gains obtained in trajectory control.

People with chronic renal disease face challenges and methods in diagnosing the disease, apart from limitations in life associated with dialysis therapy. Awaiting transplantation awakens hope for the possibility of freedom from the dialysis machine and the resumption of its independence and quality of life, this study reveals the transformation of the tragic triad into tragic otimism, following what is presented in the theoretical reference of Viktor Emil Frankl. This work aims to understand the meanings of the tragic triad (suffering, guilt and death) experienced by people with chronic kidney disease waiting in line for a rim transplant. This is a qualitative study, with a total of eleven participants in the hemodialysis service in a public hospital in the municipality of Salvador-Bahia who experienced this condition. The whole process was carried out through previously scheduled face-to-face interviews. The analysis of two depoimentos was guided by Vietta's Triadic Humanist Existential Personalist Configuration, taking into account the ethical aspects of the National Health Council, which regulates research involving human beings. Fizeram starts from the study with eleven participants who receive names of moral and ethical values. The meanings attributed to suffering, to guilt and to death (tragic triad) experienced by people with chronic kidney disease waiting in line for a kidney transplant emerged as a Great Category: the Tragic Triad to Tragic Otimism. This contains two other Categories, first being Experiences of the Tragic Triad, which has three subcategories: Experiences of Sofrimento (made up of three themes), Experiences of Guilt (made up of one theme) and Experiences of Fear of Morte (made up of one theme). The second Category, entitled Experiences of Tragic Otimism, is made up of two Subcategories: first, which contains three Subsubcategories (Hope, Sofrimento with meaning and Faith in God) and the second Subcategory, made up of two Subsubcategories (Joy and Happiness), with a theme for each one. We understand that the meanings of the tragic triad in the experience of people with chronic renal disease in the waiting line for a rim transplant in hemodialytic treatment do not emerge or tragic otimism to reveal attitudinal and experiential values, proposed by Viktor Frankl. This experience makes us understand that, even though these individuals will find meaning, the limitations imposed by diagnosis, treatment and waiting for transplantation make it difficult to develop creative values.

Exposure to various risks throughout their professional activity threatens not only the physical integrity of the military firefighter but also their mental health. From this perspective, preventive and mitigating strategies for mental disorders inherent to this activity are fundamental for preserving the health of this professional category. This research proposes a strategic action for managing mental health risks in military firefighters stationed in the state of Bahia (CBMBA), especially from a preventive standpoint. It was a participatory, applied research study with a mixed-methods approach, guided by an exploratory and descriptive perspective. Data collection utilized a triangulation of interview, questionnaire, and participatory activity methods, identifying organizational and operational psychosocial risk of the profession that contribute to mental illness, mental health management practices in the CBMBA, and programs implemented by other Military Fire Departments in Brazil. These data formed the basis for the proposed strategic action plan for managing mental health risks, supported by the principles of Occupational Health Surveillance. The results showed that mental health management at CBMBA (Bahia Military Fire Department) is still predominantly structured under a reactive logic, focused on addressing cases of mental illness, and also faces challenges in consolidating mental health policies capable of articulating continuous and systemic promotional and preventive actions. The strategies developed in other Military Firefighter Institutions served as a parameter for structuring a strategic action plan to support the development of a protocol for managing mental health risks for the personnel of this Corporation. A cidade flutua : arquivo fluente das águas de Goiânia

ter, 05/05/2026 - 21:00
Título: A cidade flutua : arquivo fluente das águas de Goiânia Autor(es): Romeiro, Bráulio Primeiro Orientador: Mortimer, Junia Cambraia Abstract: This thesis investigates the systemic covering of water within Goiânia’s urban history, interrogating how the city’s official narrative — tightly woven around images of progress and modernity — has consistently sidelined the diverse aquatic presences that fundamentally shaped its territory. By examining how archival images recorded, wiped out, or shifted the perception of water during the construction process, the study seeks to critically reappropriate these visuals to reveal the suppressed layers of the urban experience, operating on the hypothesis that Goiânia’s foundational aquatic memory, rooted in the Indigenous expression for “land of many waters,” has been systematically silenced by colonial logics of land occupation. Methodologically, the research adopts critical montage as an epistemic principle, drawing on Walter Benjamin and Georges Didi-Huberman while mobilizing concepts like critical fabulation (Saidiya Hartman), cruzo (Luiz Rufino), and transfluence (Antônio Bispo dos Santos) to create productive tension between institutional archives and personal collections. This framework, established in the first chapter “Theoretical Currents,” positions the image as a lived epistemic event rather than mere illustration, leading into the second chapter, “Land of Many Waters,” which reconstructs the symbolic formation of the territory to emphasize the centrality of rivers and groundwater while destabilizing colonial tropes of an arid, “empty” Cerrado. The study then branches into four distinct lenses — hidden, enchanted, pleasant, and engineered waters — to explore varying regimes of visibility before concluding in “Estuary,” where it is argued that urban waters are typically granted political existence only when reduced to measurable technical objects, whereas their fluid, subterranean presences remain active yet invisible; ultimately, the work asserts that broadening our regimes of perception is essential for recognizing water as a relational entity endowed with its own memory, agency, and history. Discurso, espaço do trabalho de rua e branqueamento : o Programa de Requalificação dos Mercados e Feiras de Salvador (2012-2021)

Título: Discurso, espaço do trabalho de rua e branqueamento : o Programa de Requalificação dos Mercados e Feiras de Salvador (2012-2021) Autor(es): Silva, Andrié Roberto da Primeiro Orientador: Ivo, Any Brito Leal Abstract: This dissertation examines, within the context of contemporary urban themes, markets and open-air markets in the city of Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. Specifically, it analyzes Salvador's Public Markets and Open-Air Markets Requalification Program (2012–2021) (in portuguese, “Programa de Requalificação dos Mercados e Feiras de Salvador”), a public policy of the Salvador City Hall. Implemented between 2014 and 2023, the program consisted of a series of architectural, urban planning and administrative interventions on the city's public markets. This work uses the French-based discourse analysis tool, from the perspective of the Brazilian author Eni Orlandi, to analyze the discourse enunciated by public authorities based on a corpus composed of newspaper articles from the official press and other media outlets, both contemporary and past, directly related to the program or to popular markets in the city of Salvador. Considering street work in the city as an Afro-diasporic continuity, this analysis seeks to answer, based on the concept of whitening of territory (“branqueamento do território”), whether the discourse embodied in the program constitutes a process of whitening. To this end, it investigates how this discourse works, its discursive formations, and the ideologies that interpellate public authority as a subject. In this regard, it develops four axes of analysis that highlight the meanings in the discourse: 1. Political discourse: general mechanics, 2. Discourse of entrepreneurship, 3. Chaos and order, and 4. Memory, history and culture — silence. Finally, it concludes that the discourse in question is indeed a process of territorial whitening, with an emphasis on the dimensions of cultural whitening and whitening of image.
